Flower cardiagn designed by Vendula Maderska |
Oh, girls - I am so happy that you like my Flower cardigan design. Let me tell you some words about history of this pattern. It was one of my very first patterns I wrote. I made first version of this pattern in my native language in June 2010. Wow, the time is running so fast! The pattern was published in creativ magazine Practical women No 11/2010 also.
There are many many many different flower cardigans being made since that time. You could take a quick look here and see some creations. That all is work of the handy-ladies from Czech Republic and neighbours from Slovak Republic also.
In January 2012 I wrote english version of this pattern, but... because I have no practice how to write pattern for cardigan in english before, it is quite different writting and quite difficult for me then as in my native english - it was wrote by confusing way a little bit. Everyone should have a practice, nobody is perfect! :-) So in July 2012 I wrote second version of the pattern. It was revised by native english speaker Norma (my big thanks Norma:-) ) , but althought I was tried hard and counted every stitch I made - I overlooked one stitch - and made mistake in yoke and .... OMG! I was so unhappy and frustrated about it ... because of you, because I know, how frustrating could be the counting stitches again and again and unweaving the work again and again.. I am sorry for that.
Well, I wrote third and I really hope, that last version of this pattern :-) I am quite nervous about it.. It is revised, tested several times by me and friend of my Josie. I spent many time working on this pattern and re-counting the stitches - and I hope, that this time, it will be clear and no confusing and frustrating pattern finally. I hope that you will enjoy crocheting of this cardigan. It is described in detail in two sizes - for 3 and 5 years old child.
You could downland the Flower cardigan pattern here on this blog (it is free, in pdf version)

This is one of my favourite cardigans. Thank You for all your hard work in writing the pattern for us all to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I am so happy you like my flower cardigan. I really hope, that now the crocheting will be fun:-) Yours, Vendula
DeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these cardigans. I only wish I could make one. I'll have to look at the pattern to see how hard it looks. Do you think you can make a pattern for an adult version? If it would be easier the bottom doesn't have to be the shell stitch or whatever you would call it, just plain crocheting. Maybe I could handle that, since I am a beginner. I absolutely LOVE everything you create and think you are absolutely amazingly talented. Thanks so much for the inspiration! Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie

Hello Vendulka
ReplyDeleteI am trying out your revised pattern for the Danish translation.
This is size 3 years
After yoke we have 250 stitches
Round 1 of shell pattern is:
3 CH (counts as 1st DC), skip 2 stitches, (3 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC) all in the next
stitch, skip 2 stitches, *1 DC, skip 2 stitches, (3 DC, 2 CH, 3 DC) in next stitch, skip 2
stitches*; repeat from * to end; turn
In this way we end up with 2 stiches after the very last shell and the pattern tells us to end up with "skip 2 stitches" ..
What to do?
We have 2 stiches left on the row, we have to skip these, but skip to what? do we just leave these 2 stiches and turn?
I hope you can help :)
It is lovely and your colour choice is absolutely gorgeous... <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteI am going to make it for my three n half year old.
I have a question.. For 5 years old in the Shell pattern in round 5 it says repeat round 4 where we put 2 DC in the 1 DC from previous round. So in round 5 do we put 2 DC in each DC from previous round or 1 DC in each making up the 2 DC this way? Hope my question is understandable :) Your love is beautiful by tye way. Keep it up!!!

DeleteHi, I have already made one of the colourful flower cardigan when my daughter was 4 yrs old. Now she is 6 so I am hunting for patterns. Please share me a pattern for 6 years old.
ReplyDeleteWhile making your flower cardigan, I discovered a better way of starting a row of double crochet than with a three-chain and a half double. https://youtu.be/YA46KLsg9LM
ReplyDeleteLove the color choices. Do you have a video tutorial available.
ReplyDeleteHi, I have just sent you an email as I’d love to make the cardigan, but can’t open the pattern in PDF. xx
